GXR

Grooves Xtra Rare was formed by U.K. composer/visual artist Phil Webb in 2007 and also features former Groovecatcher composer/producer Simon Cooper. Pushing back the boundaries of chill-out, GXR takes in downtempo, electronica, retro jazz/funk, deep house, mellow drum %26apos;n%26apos; bass and the lush Balearic vibes they are known for.

Surrounded and inspired by the sea and sun of Cornwall U.K., Phil and Simon have forged an inspiring musical partnership that goes back over 10 years. Their music has appeared on over 150 compilation albums, including releases by Sony, Universal, Polygram, Columbia, Island etc.

In 2006 the After The Rain album from Simon%26apos;s previous project Groovecatcher reached number 1 in the Deutsche chill-out charts and the Top 10 of the iTunes Electronica charts worldwide. Groovecatcher also appear on the latest Hed Kandi %26quot;Serve Chilled%26quot; compilation.

Phil and Simon%26apos;s new GXR releases include their remix of Billboard charting artists Madison Park%26apos;s new single %26quot;One Day%26quot; and an exclusive track %26quot;Name In Lights%26quot; for the New Sound Theory vol. 4 compilation on the BasicLUX label sponsored by Tiger Beer and Anheuser-Busch.

In August 2007 GXR%26apos;s haunting remix of the classic Billie Holiday track %26quot;Long Gone Blues%26quot; is released on Sony Legacy%26apos;s compilation %26quot;Billie Holiday Remixed and Reimagined%26quot;. The track is already receiving massive DJ play and excellent reviews worldwide.

GXR are proud to have recently joined the Anything Goze Group, a unique co-operative of likeminded artists, labels and distributors working together as a new kind of music collective.

Formed by top chill-out artist Christophe Goze, the AG Group bridges the gap between artists, labels and record distributors to provide a platform for musicians to distribute and promote their work globally.

GXR%26apos;s debut album will be released through the AG Group during the first quarter of 2008. Stay tuned for regular updates here on Myspace and also on the AG Group home page!
